Founded in 1990 by visionary entrepreneur Rohan Fernando, HVA Lanka was born out of a desire to bring the finest Ceylon teas to connoisseurs around the world. Over three decades later, we have grown into a trusted name in the global tea industry, offering not only our signature pure Ceylon teas but also an expanded range of organic products, including wild coffee, spices, herbs, artisanal teas, and cold-pressed virgin coconut oil.
At HVA Lanka, innovation has always been at the heart of what we do. We were the first company in Sri Lanka's tea industry to establish a dedicated Research & Development department, pioneering new standards of quality and sustainability. This commitment has earned us multiple awards, including the prestigious Best Exporter of Ceylon Teas and several gold awards from the National Chamber of Exporters.
Rohan Fernando, the visionary behind HVA Lanka, set up the HVA Group in 1990 with a mission to elevate Sri Lankan tea on the global stage. In 1995, he launched HVA Foods (Pvt) Ltd. to focus on value addition and branding, leading to the creation of the iconic HELADIV brand in 1996. A pioneer in the tea industry, Rohan introduced groundbreaking innovations such as initiating the first-ever Research & Development (R&D) department and inventing ready-to-drink teas in tetra packs. His contributions were recognized when he was named Exporter of the Year in 1998. Under his leadership, HVA Foods made history by being listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2011, marking a new chapter in the company's journey. Rohan's entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality continue to inspire the brand's global success.
Our mission is simple: to share the finest natural products from Sri Lanka with the world while upholding the highest standards of sustainability and social responsibility. Whether it's our premium teas, wild-grown coffee, or organic herbs, every product we create is a testament to our dedication to quality and ethical practices.
As we look ahead, HVA Lanka remains committed to expanding our range of premium, eco-friendly products and solidifying our position as a leader in the global market. We will continue to innovate while honoring the traditions that have made us a trusted name in Ceylon teas and natural products.
More than just a business, HVA Lanka is a family, bound by a shared passion for quality, sustainability, and a deep respect for the land and people of Sri Lanka.
At the heart of our operations is the Labugolla Private Sanctuary, a 60-acre oasis nestled in the highlands of Sri Lanka. Once a British plantation growing coffee, cocoa, and spices, this stunning landscape has been carefully rehabilitated to provide a base for our production activities. The sanctuary is a model of sustainable agriculture, where we cultivate wild coffee and organic spices, while also supporting the small farmers in the surrounding areas by purchasing their produce.
From the very beginning, we've embraced a Green Earth Policy, ensuring that our operations leave a minimal environmental footprint. Today, we've built on that foundation by integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into every facet of our business. We are committed to the rejuvenation of our planet, promoting ethical labor practices, and maintaining equitable relationships with our employees, customers, and stakeholders.
We believe that true success comes not just from financial growth, but from the positive impact we have on the environment and the communities we touch. That's why we strive to minimize our carbon footprint, support local farmers, and promote fair treatment and empowerment of our employees.
HVA Lanka is committed to excellence in every aspect of our production process. From the hand-picking of our tea leaves to the traditional processing methods we use for our coconut oil, we ensure that every product that carries the HVA name is a symbol of purity and authenticity. Our customers can trust that they are receiving products that have been carefully curated and produced with respect for both nature and tradition.
